Inappropriate?Hi Robin, our Linux team is having a vacation. We'll get back to this in early August.
The company says
this answers the question
-
Inappropriate? You let your guys have *holidays* ????!!!!
OK, I'll see if I can use alien to install the .deb on Fedora.
Thanks,
R. -
Inappropriate?I've got 2 book recommendations for you (regarding holidays):
http://www.amazon.com/Slack-Getting-B...
http://www.amazon.com/Peopleware-Prod...
I’m kidding
-
Inappropriate?Here's one for you:

;)
I'm familiar with the Peopleware book (I was a Project Manager for BAA plc in a former life)

I’m silly

Inappropriate?Since I start a new job on Monday, and am running Fedora 11 on my home workstation, and need to track my time, I just re-visited this.
Here's what I did:
- grabbed the i386 Toggl widget .deb package
- grabbed the latest alien tarball from:
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/s...
- unpacked the tarball, and installed alien
- converted the deb to an rpm:
$ alien -r toggl-widget-current.deb
- installed the RPM:
$ sudo yum localinstall --nogpgcheck toggl-widget-0.3.4.0-2.i386.rpm
It works.
Would still be nice to have an official RPM, plus x86_64 versions of both the .deb and RPM.
I’m thankful to debian for the alien tool
-
Inappropriate?Any news on this? The toggl widget is the only i386 software running on my system right now. It would be nice to get an x86_64 RPM build so I can lose all the i386 libs.
I’m waiting...
-
Inappropriate?Yes, we are back! We'll add the RPM packages (32 and 64bit) to our plans.
-
Inappropriate?Excellent, thanks.
A yum repository would be good too.
Let me know if you need help with either the RPM building and/or the repo creation - I'm experienced in both.
Cheers,
R.
I’m offering to help.
-
Inappropriate?Any progress with this?
-
Inappropriate?Hmm, I just tried to grab the latest version of the Linux widget to convert it to an RPM as per my own instructions earlier in this ticket, and I get toggl-desktop-2.0.0.3-2.i386.rpm, not toggl-desktop-2.0.4.0-2.i386 which I currently have installed.
What's going on?
R.
I’m confused.
-
Inappropriate? There was an old link somewhere. We have now fixed it.
-
Inappropriate?About the progress. We've been very busy with other stuff (new reports, etc). It will be done hopefully in November.
-
Inappropriate?I have successfully converted the new x86_64 .deb package to an x86_64 RPM. It seems to work.
It would still be much better for you to create an RPM and host it in a yum repo.
Please let me know if you want help setting that up.
R. -
Inappropriate? Is there any progress with the RPM? It's been 7 months now.
Also, I get a core dump when I try to use an RPM created by alien from toggl-desktop-2.5.0.0-1-amd64.deb
I'll create another ticket for that.
-
Inappropriate? No progress with the RPM yet. We are constantly swamped and have a lot to do before we can focus on the RPM. However, since Toggl Desktop is open source (https://launchpad.net/toggl-desktop), maybe you can build one for yourself?
-
Inappropriate?Jaanus,
I'd be happy to build one for myself. I've checked out trunk from launchpad but I can't see any build infrastructure in there. How do you usually build toggl-desktop? You don't appear to use any of the GNU autotools ?
R.
I’m mystified.
-
Inappropriate?Robin, you have to use qmake that will generate a proper Makefile.
-
Inappropriate?Jaanus,
Is there any chance you (toggl) could document the process?
R. -
Inappropriate?Yes, of course, we can do that. I'll add this to our plans.
-
Inappropriate?I'd like to second the suggestion for an rpm.
-
Inappropriate?Well, my corrent toggl-desktop package has stopped working.
Are you going to do anything about my request for an RPM or even instructions on how to use qmake to build from source?
I am currently not able to use toggl and will be looking for something else if I don't get this sorted soon.
R.
I’m sick of waiting.
-
Inappropriate? As much as I'd like an RPM, I have no problem keeping a browser open and logged in to Toggl on a secondary desktop
-
Inappropriate? The RPM packages are currently out of our plans. We simply do not have time for building them. Our current focus is on stabilizing the existing code.
How to build the makefile:
* install qmake (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthr...)
* run "qmake" inside the project directory to generate a Makefile
