Address order jumbled incorrect after import from gmail
Using GAFYD:
After syncing with gmail I noticed that the addresses were incorrect. For example in gmail I would have the following:
123 WEST SAMPLE ST
ANYTOWN, CA 91234-1234
but in soocial it would be in this way:
ANYTOWN, CA
91234-1234123 WEST SAMPLE ST
This is consistent for all imported addresses. Not sure why? Any suggestions?

I am just going to answer your mail here sean, so other susers can read my response too.
The issue is the following:
Google has implemented Structured Data in their API3 in 2009. Soocial switched to this pretty soon after it came available. The problem is that Google did not implement this on the contact editor side. If a contacts address fields gets edited in Google contacts the Structured data is broken and we have to guess what information is where.
At this point the only solution to this issue is to not edit the address in Google...
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Hi Gerald, looks like that is a bug in our GMail sync engine. Thanks for seeing that - we are investigating the issue and hopefully be able to fix it soon. We'll post an update when its been fixed. The root of this problem lies in that Google doesn't use structured data for their addresses but one text field and we need to parse that into something more structured.
We are currently refactoring a lot of our sync engines' code to be more consistent. We'll add this to the list of things to fix when we deploy it.
I’m anxious to get these bugs fixed.

Inappropriate?Nope... just tried a few weeks ago and same issue... haven't heard of anyone working the issue. Isn't usable for me until this is fixed. I'm currently not using.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Hi,
I would also like to point out (if not known yet), that not all data for gmail contacts is imported--"notes" for example. Keep working on this--it's getting better! -
Inappropriate? This is hard to solve Sean. The address field is a multi line fielld. Soocial does not know what info is in what field. If you want to sync your addresses with Soocial you will have to enter the info in the Gmail Address field the Soocial way, or live with the fact the it does not look good in Soocial and this in other connections you sync with.
So I guess the short answer is that it still an issue.... -
Thanks for responding Bart!
I understand about googles address field, and I know that is an issue. If they put the discrete pieces of data in their own fields, it would be a lot easier. I am not really worried about the order the data is in, but the fact that sometimes the data is lost. If I put an address into gmail, often times after syncing with soocial the zip code, or the entire city-state-zip line will disappear when syncing to other places (outlook and iPhone). Generally I try to just enter data into soocial directly, but that is not always possible. -
Data loss is very wrong, can you give us an example of some of your contacts this happened to? And your user name? support (at soocial dot com) -
I sent in the email to support. I have experimented with entering data into google the soocial way. Doesn't seem to help. No matter what order the address info goes in on the 2nd line, all the 2nd line info goes into the extended or PO box field in soocial. I am in the U.S. if that helps clarify my issue. -
Yes, I can see that happening for a second line. Same cause for this: the address field being one text box in Gmail. Really hard to solve...... -

Inappropriate?the Google "address"-mess ----
in SOOCIAL it's fine, very specific: you've got 7 lines to fill (1. street +no. - 2. city - 3. region -...) and sync TO Google works fine. ----
When adding a contact in GOOGLE there is just one space where you can fill in several lines... What happens when sync (to Soocial) is : the first line (from Google) is put into Soocials "street and number" - as it should, fine; the second G-line is put into Soocials "pobox" ! (thats the line, where i put in 'postal code' and 'city', that's the german-way ;-) , in Google it's american : first 'city', and then 'postal code' )) ... whatsoever, the third Google-line will be put in Soocials "extended"-line ... ---
Now my question : if i add a contact IN GOOGLE, how should i fill in the address, so that Soocial syncs it well ?
(phuuu, did i described it ... äh, proper??).
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Googles "address"-field syncs confused to Soocials seven "address-lines".

Inappropriate?peleopold,
very proper!
This is the order we import from Google. NOTE! You will have to leave an empty line for a field you don't use.
1. Street and number
2. Pobox
3. Extended
4. City
5. Region
6. Postal code
7. Country -
Thanx Bart ! it works fine. -- am i right, that Googles address-"multi line field" (as it is without line/field-names) is ... senseless ? (maybe they don't care about location in the virtual world --). -
Inappropriate?I have over 1300 contacts. Time will not allow me to fix each one. I lost any and all contacts city/state/zip in every contact that I created in Google/Gmail. I originally had a WinMo phone that synced my contacts to Gmail. I did not lose any of those.
