First of all you need to install syncevolution (which is the program that actually does the syncing).

Start by adding the catalogue in your App Manager:


You also need gainroot, install it via your App Manager.

Afterwards open the X-Terminal and type:


sudo gainroot
apt-get install syncevolution
exit


If you managed to get here you have already installed syncevolution and all that's left to be done is configure it!

Type this (replacing the username and password with your credentials):


syncevolution --template default --configure --sync-property username=youremail@bla.com --sync-property password=your_password --sync-property syncURL=http://sync.soocial.com soocial
syncevolution --configure --source-property sync=disable soocial memo
syncevolution --configure --source-property sync=disable soocial todo
syncevolution --configure --source-property sync=disable soocial calendar


And now all you need to do is:


syncevolution --sync two-way soocial


The only problem is that you have to type this command in the terminal everytime you want to sync your phone.

If you're a Gentoo and Soocial user you can now sync your Evolution e-mail client's address book.

I've created some ebuilds and put them here: http://github.com/tmacedo/portage

In order to install these you should create a local overlay: http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Overla...

So right now both Thunderbird (with some issues) and Evolution (perfect as far as we know) are working with Soocial!

I've just setup syncevolution+genesis so that my Soocial account is synced with my evolution. Once you install it's pretty straightforward and it just works.

All the settings you need are:

server: http://sync.soocial.com
username: xxxxxxx
password: xxxxx

and select address book syncing.

Our current API is a bit cumbersome and we plan on building a proper one in the near future.

Currently the way to update a telephone number is something like:

curl -u XXXXXXXXXXXXXX%40XXXXXXXXXX:XXXXXXXXXXX http://www.soocial.com/contacts/99999... -X PUT -d "telephone[number]=123"

In order to grab them and know their IDs first you need to fetch:

http://www.soocial.com/contacts/99999...
