Clock size and other middle bar issuesI think it's more common to glance at the home screen for the time than for the date. So I think the clock on the home screen should be as large or larger than the date.
Changing the placement of the wifi, battery, and signal information would make space for a larger clock and improve the look, IMO. Currently the left side of the middle seems very squeezed.
I would also like to see a larger current temperature and a small hi/lo for today. Also the interpretation of the weather forecast is not obvious to a new user at a glance. If this is going to stay on the home screen, how about tiny icons for sun, rain, clouds, snow, etc. It would take up a little more space, but be much clearer. Best of all would be to have a touch for a forecast screen, since this is not something people need in the foreground all the time.
The absence of quick access to various services from the home screen middle bar is the biggest shortcoming in SlideScreen I see. I realize that the need to slide the middle bar complicates things. If short presses can't be done, how about long presses for the different areas of the middle bar or one long press to bring up a screen that does allow short presses (as well as more a more clearly presented forecast and system information).-

Stock G1 using 1.1. 1.0 was fine, but 1.1 was intolerable for this reason.
I think there might be an improvement in screen load time with 1.11, but not enough. I waited 5-6 seconds get the call screen loaded. Still much too long. The first two releases were fine, but I stopped using 1.1 because of the responsiveness issue. Particularly when I want to make a call or see contacts I don't want to stare at a blank screen. That is a killer bug if it can't be fixed.
Phil replied to "1.11 Released", but it was removed. see the change log
