A comment on the question "Are the minimum system requirements likely to change when Pivot is released to the public?" in Live Labs Pivot:
GladRobot, I don't mind in the least.
I am in no way affiliated with Microsoft. I use their software quite a lot and I'm a fan, but that's the extent of it.
I had the honour, among several others, of interviewing at Smith Tower for Photosynth's community leader, but that position went to Darius Monsef who has since parted ways with them.
I'm just a fan of Live Labs' work. I hope that I wasn't too abrasive. Please accept my apology if I was. – Nathanael Lawrence, on February 06, 2010 16:14
A comment on the discussion "Is this a scam?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Runescape is written in Java, which is as plugin as they come, amigo, so it's disingenuous to say that it is doing 'browser-only 3D'.
And for those who don't know, yes, Java (third party software from Sun) is completely different to Javascript, which all browsers since Netscape support. – Nathanael Lawrence, on February 06, 2010 11:46

I'm with stealthtech. We already know that the Hard Rock Cafe collection was originally viewable in Silverlight. The interface is a little different from what you get in Pivot, but it's the same underlying data.

Once Pivot's sorting interface is ported to Silverlight, I suspect that will be the way that this whole project moves.

Nathanael Lawrence replied on February 04, 2010 06:56 to the question "I'm so glad that I spent an hour messin with this program and watching it do nothing." in Microsoft Live Labs:
There are plenty of answers to be had, Kevin, and plenty of company feedback. I know they've answered many of my questions. Part of why you might be seeing a lack of company response here on Get Satisfaction is that this has been relegated to the secondary Photosynth forum. The primary Photosynth forums are located at http://photosynth.net/forum.aspx and if you have errors or problems to report, then try the 'Bugs' forum there.
Even with Get Satisfaction being the secondary Photosynth feedback option, you got the attention of a Photosynth team member trying to help you as well as one of your fellow Photosynth users (me).
If you're really interested in getting help instead of just complaining then come tell the rest of us what specific problems you had so that we can troubleshoot them for you. Have patience with us and we'll do everything we can to get you up and running.
If you're not interested in getting help and only here to hate then try not to complain in public. Anybody can have a bad day and say something sarcastic that they wouldn't normally say. I'm cool to roll with that but no one likes someone who always is moaning about something and never wants to do anything to fix any of the problems that they see.
So... the question is, "What is it that you really want? Do you want us to help you or do you just want to complain?".
The fact is that thousands of people have done amazing things with Photosynth and even the much larger number of people who lack imagination and creativity have at least gotten Photosynth to work for them, so I'm absolutely positive that it can work for you too.
Come on, big man, hit me with all your Photosynth problems. I'd never challenge you like this if I were an official customer service representative, but being vigilante affords me the ability to be more honest with you than if I were confined to a '...customer is always right' attitude. To be honest, you've acted like an immature child so far, but we're still willing to help you if you want to step up and stop pretending that you're less of a man than you really are.
