Yes you are right, this must be fixed. I'll also add OPT+TAB in dual mode so you can get to original TAB functionality if you know the trick.

Or maybe do it other way? not sure. Switching panels in dual mode should be very straightforward keyboard shortcut...

You are right, I introduced bug in 0.7 which prevents visor resizing. Your only solution is to edit Finder plist:

open ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

look for TotalFinderSavedVisorHeight or similar values

you can also use applescript as some guy in some other thread explained

I'm also running it under macports.

Run it with ruby 1.8.x (like me), I've never tested 1.9 version. Or hardcode PLATFORM constant to be 'OSX' directly in the code.

Hi Sebastian. I'm also a console guy and .DS_Store redirection was my original motivation to start hacking on Finder :-)

I believe in something like fair use. I don't want to complicate things so TotalFinder will always install system-wide for all users. I don't want to be solving issues caused by switching users or by user-specific configurations. I want to spend my time more productively than solving these issues.

If your mom or sister do not care much about TotalFinder it is ok they are using your single-user license. Maybe just if they would probably buy it without you buying it you may just tell them "hey, you should maybe send that guy 15 bucks if you are going to use this intensively".

That's all. Don't worry, I will be glad when you love that product so much that you send me your own $15 :-)

Ah sorry in 0.7, I've reimplemented resizing mechanism and it is broken with Visor window. I'm going to revisit the code in 0.8. Right now j2fly's applescript does the job. Btw. great applescript-fu j2fly :-) – Antonin Hildebrand, on February 03, 2010 15:42

It looks like you have opened DMG disk. It is a standard Finder behavior to not allow Sidebar in such situation.

Your uninstallation probably failed. It is not possible to have that icon without TotalFinder active.

Maybe your Finder was not restarted after uninstall? Try "killall Finder" in Terminal.app. If it does not help look into:

/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins
~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins

and delete TotalFinder.bundle manually

How do you mount webdav? Via Finder's "Connect to Server" dialog?

This behavior is by design. You are using Visor feature.

Steffen, to get to classic Finder behavior please uncheck both activation checkboxes in TotalFinder/Visor pref pane of Finder Preferences.

Then close Visor window (it has just one red close button). All new windows will be classic finder windows + remembering dimensions. – Antonin Hildebrand, on January 31, 2010 00:17

This should work reliably.

Last closed window dimensions are remembered and new window is created on same location with same dimensions.

Visor window has separate settings, but TotalFinder also remembers it's position and height.

Hi, I'm so sorry for problems caused by TotalFinder. Right now I've three similar reports. So I suppose it is a TotalFinder related issue, but it happens in specific case. It would be real disaster if this is experienced by all TF users.

I have to hunt this bug down. Thank you for taking time and providing more insights to this problem.

Right now you may resize Visor window to desired height and it will stick (note sizing gripper is not visible, but it works)

In the future the Visor window will be draggable via frame.
