one way trips
How the heck do you add a one way trip? I'm going to move my home city in the near future and therefore only have a oneway trip. How can I enter that in dopplr?

Inappropriate?I guess, you would just change your home city. That's all.
-
Inappropriate? That isn't really satisfactory, because I can't say "hey, I'm going to change my home city on (enter day)" like I do with trips in advance.
I’m not yet satisfied
-
Inappropriate?Kira, we're definitely looking at this question of how to deal better with both one-way trips and change of home cities. At the moment Dopplr makes the (sometimes incorrect) assumption that a trip is from your home city and back again (unless a multi-stop journey) -- and we agree that asking you to change your home city is not the right answer. We hope to have some useful changes fairly soon.

Inappropriate?Dan. I'm having the same problem as Kira. We are moving next week and I can't find anyway to add a one way trip... When do you think you will have a solution to this?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi David
We've delayed the work on one-way trips a bit, mostly because to do them properly requires substantial changes to the way Dopplr works. We want to do this feature properly, so it has been pushed back a bit. (I know this is frustrating - it's one of those things that sound simple but have quite deep technical implications). Rest assured that we do know that people want it and are asking for it, and plan to do it in the new year.
In the meantime, I'd suggest setting your home town to your new location when you move, and then all your new trips will reflect the new starting point.
Hope this helps,
Celia -
Okay, so it was delayed 11 months ago -- what's happening with it now? -
Inappropriate?Um, my *old* trip also has had its origin changed after I moved. That is not good...
I’m confused
-
that's not cool! -
Inappropriate? How about adding previous trips? I used to live in Australia, and took trips whilst there. Can I change my home-town to Melbourne, add some previous trips, then change it back to London?
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Any news on this yet? It's now been a year since the initial question.
I emigrated to New Zealand a year ago and the only way to add the trip was to add it as a return (I selected a year later!). It now thinks I'm going back to the UK :)
I've since just deleted the trip and set Auckland as my home town. Not ideal, as it means the one way trip out here never happened. I just beamed in. :)
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate? This is kind of rediculous, there is no way to move, and it seems that old trips are now calculated from my new location -- which is completely incorrect.
do you even have this on your roadmap? seems like something that's fairly important for a location-based site.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Super frustrated at this as well.
For those of us with complex trips or work lifestyles (aka people who would ACTUALLY find this service useful) the system doesn't work.
The lack of communication from the Dopplr team about this is pretty awful.

Inappropriate?I think I'll have to let go Dopplr for that reason. It's a pity, a few friends of mine are using it, and we thought we'd be able to synchronize together.. but it looks like Dopplr just isn't a solution yet.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I can't use Dopplr for the same reason. It's been an issue for long enough now, I'm giving up hope of a quick fix.
I’m despondent
-
(and yes, "quick fix" was intentionally ironic.) -
Inappropriate?Hey all,
We know this is frustrating. And I'm so sorry I still can't give you a timeline of when this will be available.
Best,
Peike
the Dopplr team
I’m sorry.
-
Inappropriate?I'm not sure this is a good enough answer.
How is this NOT on the technical road map?
you guys are a software company and deliver features against a time line. Its fine if its a bit away... but telling people "we dont know" for over a year is not cool
If this has been bumped after the acquisition (as well as over development) you guys should really let your users know.
I’m frustrated
