Volume-box displays when setting new markers
First of all, Silverback is a lovely product!
However, during a preliminary testing and an actual test we've run into the same problem now: when the test has been running for an hour to an hour and a half, the volume overlay suddenly starts to appear when we add new markers with our Apple Remote (original from the iMac).
The marks are still being recorded but the black rectangular volume box suddenly starts to appear as well which renders this feature practically useless after an hour of testing.
Is there a way to use the "next" key (on the Apple Remote) instead to set the markers as this won't have any other visual effect even if Silverback should suddenly stop intercepting the calls for whatever reason. Volume-up simply seems like a dangerous fall-back since software running for x-hours must be expected to sometimes act a bit strange :)
Love the product otherwise! We might just do a review soon..

Inappropriate?A couple of quick questions. First off do you have iTunes or any other audio apps running in the background? If so, it would probably be a good idea to turn them off. Secondly, if you're running Snow Leopard, make sure that you've upgraded to the latest version as the early releases had a known bug with handing over control of the Apple remote.
-
Inappropriate?Only Firefox and Console were running (and Silverback of course).
Unfortunately it is difficult to try and provoke this bug since it only seems to appear after one hour of recording or more.
Software versions:
Mac OS X 10.5.8
Silverback 1.1.2 (311) -
Inappropriate? It happened again in our two latest tests. Both after approximately one hour. Once again, only the above software was running.
Is there any keystrokes or something we can use to make makers instead? Or a way we can remap the remote-button? -
Inappropriate?Definitely a strange one. Not sure why it would only start after an hour. I'll get our engineers to take a look at it and get back to you.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate? One time it started after 15 min, but it had already happened earlier in the test (during a break we then stopped the session and started a new one to fix this issue). I should stress that it is not exactly one hour, it varies a bit - give or take 10 minutes..
There's no other way to make markers? -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately not. We decided to do it all via the remote as using the keyboard would obviously interfere with the test. Although the volume bezel showing up obviously isn;t helping in your case either :-)
-
Inappropriate?True. Although I do have two keyboards connected for certain tests, making ctrl+[key] an option (we use this for a pause/resume feature for mouse-movement tracking so we don't track when interrupting test participants).
