Inappropriate?Yes, this was tested during our Beta period on a Mac Mini without a built-in iSight.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? No, 'output system audio' is used to capture any sounds from your Mac directly, rather than relying on it being picked up ambiently by your microphone. This had to be taken out of the initial launch due to a few technical problems, but we hope to have it back in soon.
The app has been tested on some microphones, but with so many to choose from it's impossible to test them all. As such we're using the term 'output iSight audio' really just to cover our asses as the app has been primarily designed to work with the default Apple hardware and we know this works. However in reality it should work with most external microphones as well, just as long as you change the input settings in your system preferences. If this doesn't work, let us know what mic you're using and we'll see what we can do.

Inappropriate?Hey thanks for the reply Andy!
I got it all worked out, I really like this app.
Well done,

Inappropriate?Hi, I'm using a trial version of the software with the hope that we can buy it for use on all of our user testing. But, I'm having an issue with getting my Logitech AK5370 microphone to work.
I have it setup in my mac's settings to be used as the primary input mic. I've tested it with Skpye and it works very well, but when I attempt to use it for recording a session on Silverback it seems to revert back to the Mac microphone? I'm running OS X 10.6.2.

Thanks!
P.S.
I really want to use your software, it's perfect for what we need and super easy to use! I really hope we can figure this mic thing out. Our user testing is on Jan. 21st next week.
I’m sad

The way Silverback is written it's supposed to use whatever audio has been defined in the Mac settings, so I'm not sure why it's reverting back in your case. I'll ask our engineers to take a look, but it's unlikely that we'll have an answer before your test date. -
Thanks for looking into this, I appreciate it. If we aren't able to use the USB mic we're going to try and position the laptop's mic in such a way that it will pick up our participants. Thankfully the macbooks mic's are actually pretty good! Cheers.
